PalThink Academy organizes workshop to discuss democracy and human rights concepts

The trainers of PalThink Academy for Human Rights and Democracy have organized an awareness workshop entitled “Basic Concepts of Democracy and Human Rights” at Al-Najat Charity Association, southern Gaza Strip, as part of the “PalThink Academy for Democracy and Human Rights – Phase II” project, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office’s funds by ifa’s Funding Programme zivik.

Young trainer Abdullah Al-Baba started the workshop with an interactive activity with the participants, screening a documentary on the history of the development of democracy and the emergence of human rights. He then discussed the importance of human rights with the audience and presented the most important international charters and treaties that stipulate human rights.

For his part, young trainers Muhammad Hussein and Mahmoud Al-Faqawi gave a detailed presentation of the reality of human rights in Palestine and discussed democracy and its indicators in Palestine. The workshop concluded with an in-depth discussion with the audience about the mechanisms of developing democracy and promoting human rights in the Palestinian society.
The project had prepared a youth group with a training program that enabled them to actively participate in civil society through the implementation of a series of awareness workshops in partnership and networking with all institutions and civil organizations operating in the Gaza Strip.
