PalThink Academy Trainers Organize Workshop on “Empowering Palestinian Women”

Trainers of PalThink Academy for Democracy and Human Rights have implemented a workshop in Deir Al-Balah Association for Community Development and Childhood, entitled “Empowering Palestinian Women”, as part of the “PalThink Academy for Democracy and Human Rights” project, Phase II, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office’s funds by ifa’s Funding Programme zivik.

The workshop was opened by Abdul Rahman Ismail, who welcomed the attendees and introduced the project and its various activities. He highlighted the role of PalThink in implementing projects that serve the youth and enhance their skills. Then, Shahd Abu Dahrouj emphasized the importance of women understanding their roles in society.

Following that, Noor Aabid explained the current situation of Palestinian women, outlining the goals and significance of the meeting in discussing women’s issues within Palestinian society. The workshop also aimed to explore the obstacles and challenges that women face under the current social and political circumstances. Ample space was provided for the attending women to share their stories and experiences within Palestinian society, and collectively brainstorm solutions to overcome the obstacles and challenges facing them.

Shahd Abu Dahrouj continued the workshop by presenting concepts of social and psychological empowerment of women in Palestinian society and methods of implementation. She led a psychological self-unburdening activity for the women within the workshop.

Meanwhile, Kamel Jouda shed light on political and economic empowerment through laws, explaining some initiatives and laws that are awaiting approval to improve the status of women in Palestinian society. Ahmad Jaber concluded the workshop by emphasizing the importance of initiating women’s empowerment despite the current circumstances and overcoming all challenges and obstacles discussed by the trainers from PalThink Academy with the women
